Hello, I fried one of the windings of my 25 kVA Crompton alternator. In the process of getting the head of the Lister flywheel. I have unbolted and unpinned the alternator but I cant get these bolts out. There appears to be some sidewards movement. Any hints here. I thought it should slide out like removing a gearbox from a car.
Can't attach more pictures somehow.

Engines / Bleeding fuel system Lister HA 4
« on: November 17, 2018, 08:02:05 AM »
I have an HA4 Lister genset since two weeks.

It runs fine but today I stuffed up and got air in the fuel line, as one fuel hose sucked in air from the fuel container, and now the machine won't start.
I bled the fuel filter by using the manual liftpump lever, and managed to loosen one of the 7/16 nuts on the in line pressure pump. Got it almost to fire up but I need to open up the second bleed screw also I think.
Need to get hold of a proper 7/16 spanner tomorrow, as there is not much space to work, as the bleed screws are in between in-line pump and engine block.

I like to avoid having to loosen the high pressure lines and hope that my idea works.
Thanks for any advise given.
try to attach picture, not sure how to.

Lister Based Generators / Lister HA4 engine with 25 kVA generator
« on: November 10, 2018, 09:17:47 PM »
Just to introduce myself here on this Lister forum.
My name is Raymond, live in New Zealand and since Friday I got myself a Lister 25 kVA 3 Phase generator for back up power for our house and for three phase supply for electrical experiments which I do for hobby.
I am a registered electrician and work for the power utility in the greater Auckland area.
The 4 cylinder Lister starts and runs great and still have to get it shifted under our deck and build a housing for it.
I love to get hold of information re maintaining the Lister diesel engine.
At the moment new oil , new oil filters are all fitted including, clean oil the air intake bath filter.
Also I am happy to give advice to other members here on this forum regarding electrical issues.
The generator (alternator) part is Crompton & Parkinson.
