Engines / Odd behavior of my Lister SR1 half press lever
« on: November 24, 2025, 08:43:54 PM »
Hi folks,
Long time since last been here. Maybe the reason is, that my engine has been working like a charm. But now, one month ago I noticed one odd behavior with my Lister SR1.

I had it running quite a long time, because I wanted to get my accumulator as full as possible before winter time. My engine was running normally and after quite long time running, I noticed that the half press lever was "pumping" like on and off continuously. I looked it for a while and then stopped the engine. I attach one video to this feed, so you can see, what I am meaning with that "pumping":

My accumulator charging has been set so, that when running, the charging is about 1.2 to 1.3 Amps. I have been thinking, that it might be the right value, but I am not sure of that. Also wondering, might that pumping be the result of low battery voltage or what might cause that behavior. I would be very happy, if some of you might see the problem and send me some tips, how to try to solve it. Thanks in advance folks and hope that your machines work fluently and you are happy with them I have been extremely happy with my renovated machine.

Cheers

Generators / Anyone familiar with this control box?
« on: November 17, 2022, 08:01:38 PM »
Hi again,

Today, found from ebay and wondering, if this might do with my current Start-O-Matic ? The seller says, that this has been dissassembled from Lister engine "Removed from 1980s 7KW startomatic set with engine failure, later type with circuit boards". If working, I might be interested in it. The seller has nothing else to it, not any documentation or other stuff. So, only hope inside and buy it :-)

If you have any information, I am very pleased of it.

Cheers

Kari

Hi folks,

I have Lister SR1 and old Start-O-Matic with it, to take care of either manual or automatic starting of my generator. My startomatic is a bit "worn out" model and I think, some of the components seem to be "on the last track". So - I am wondering if anyuone has done either renovation or total change of that system, to get more reliable and a bit modern system to start your engine. I know, that there are lot and lots of chinese systems around, but I think, it is necessary to understand, what functions one may have in the system, before buying one.

If you have good hints, please let me know. I would love to change my starting system to new one and take care the rest of engine in a way, I can run it years ahead.

Thank you in advance and take care

Kari

Hi pro's  :)

Now after doing many hours of maintenace and "cleaning" plus painting, it seems like I'm gonna mont the engine to my brand new generator room.

I have read lots of documents about vibration possibilities etc. and that is why, I kindly ask if anyone of you has real and experienced knowledge, how to mount the engine in a proper way. Directly to concrete floor with heavy bolts, some wooden stuff in between or possible rubber vibration absorbers under the engine.

It will take between 1-2 weeks and I will be asking my neighbour to lift the engine with a tractor into my room. That is why, I ask this info and appreciate any valid knowledge into this.

Also I promise to send some pictures of my project when I proceed with it.

Cheers

PS. my generator room floor is 1.7 m x 1.9 m and thickness of the floor is about 12 cm. So, quite heavy and solid, I think :-)

Engines / Turned out that my Lister wasn't ST2 :-)
« on: May 15, 2018, 09:49:51 PM »
Hi guys,

Earlier in this site I explained, that I have bought  a Lister ST2 with 3 kw generator head. Closer look when fetching the machine, showed, that the engine is SR1.
Now I seem to miss a Workshop Manual or even thinner one for this SR1. Anyone here maybe having a copy of it or having that scanned some how.

If possible, I'd like to get one and willing to pay some for it. The plant was in quite bad condition, but hoping to clean it and after then, looking how to resque it
into better condition. If the mail server in this site is not working, you can contact me by mail karimuru@gmail.com.

Thanx in advance ...
