as the governor spring is fitted to give adjustment to the running speed of the CS what is the purpose of the adjustment rod that sits between the lower governor lever and the upper governor lever, and does anyone know if the adjustment rod should be set to a certain length or within certain limits

Original Lister Cs Engines / in house servicing
« on: August 22, 2017, 07:56:27 PM »
My CS which I believe to be a december 1946 model (CS56022) has a brass plate riveted to the rear of the cylinder which states .....the cylinder is 10 thou oversize.... so I assume that at some point the cylinder was removed and sent to lister who did the work and returned it with a new oversize piston, from what I know the engine was probably worked hard for the first twenty years of its life and I know personally that it has not been punished during the last thirty years, anyway has anyone else got a CS that has been returned to lister workshops for servicing/repair that was returned to the owner with a workshop brass plate riveted to the unit

Original Lister Cs Engines / what size cooling tank
« on: June 29, 2017, 04:37:19 PM »
I have a 1940s lister cs 6hp which is used for pumping water and is sometimes hooked up to a small generator in times of power outages, for these purposes the engine is cooled by using a 45 gallon tank, but as I am a member of my local vintage society I now feel compelled to take the engine to local vintage shows, I have no problem lifting the engine onto a 4 wheel trolley but I am unsure what size water tank to take with me for an afternoon on the showfield . In recent years I have seen a variety of different size tanks used, these range from a 9 litre fire extinguisher, a 15 litre air compressor tank and several using either 12k propane gas bottles or the slightly smaller version, obviously I would prefer to take the smallest tank possible for healthy running with no load, if anyone takes their engine to shows I would be interested to know what size tank they use or if anyone has a suggestion please let me know
