Lister Market Place (things for Sale) / For sale-Changfa model ZS1130 30hp
« on: December 17, 2013, 07:19:13 PM »
Hello everyone,
I purchased this engine rather recently, 2 weeks ago to be exact. And 4 days after it being delivered I found a generator already done and built onto a trailer, Which is what I was going to do with this one. Anyways, now that I purchased the other one, this one would simply sit in the corner of the garage until who knows when.

I'm asking $1,100.00 Firm for it,
Im located in Illinois.

The engine may have 20 minutes of runtime on it total,
For pics and video of it running, check out this thread.

Straight Vegetable Oil / WVO preheater
« on: December 15, 2013, 12:30:07 AM »
Hey all,

Was looking around the net for a decent priced wvo preheater and everything I found IMO was over priced. So I thought Id share a very simple design based on a $80.00 design I found on ebay. It may be crude, but it works very well, and can be built for roughly $30.00 fuel fittings included.

Items needed,

#1 Standard 1 inch T fitting
#2 5-6 inch piece of pipe coming from the T fitting
#3 Your preferred choice of a screw in flange heating element.

I personally went with a 1440 watt 120 volt element for my application, but at my local Ace they had quite a bit of selection.

I have attached some pics just for a quick reference point, to show the basic simplicity of the design. I'm taking ZERO credit for the design itself, the design is a copy of one selling on ebay for $80.00 plus shipping. The total cost of this design done yourself, shouldn't run more than $30.00 total.

I searched around on the forum and didn't see this exact design anywhere so I figured Id share it and hope someone finds some use for it.

I have this design in use on a small diesel engine and it is performing great. If anyone is intrested in details of the rest of my design Id be happy to share it.

Changfa Engines / Purchased a new Changfa style diesel ZS1130
« on: December 05, 2013, 11:58:22 PM »
Just got done purchasing a new Changfa style diesel today, its the model ZS1130 30hp.

Not quite sure if it really pumps out that much, but boy is this thing a beast!
I tried to crank start this thing at first and that was a complete joke, the first time I released the decompression it kicked back and now I have a elbow that is killing me lol

I did learn one thing today, about this style engine and that is they are a pain in the you know what to prime up and get all the air bled out. After completing the priming, I hooked up the battery charger/boost  start and got nowhere very quickly. I quickly figured out that you need some real power to turn this thing over. Ran to a local autozone grabbed a deep cell battery and some cables, hooked it up and it fired right up! ;D

When I tried it with the battery boost starter it would just stop on the compression stroke.
Anyways now I just have to figure out a plan of attack to figure out how Im going to best utilize this beast as I'm waiting for my Lister that is presently being rebuilt by another gent on this board. I'm thinking a back up for a back up lol,

I added a video for you guys of the first start, I had it running at roughly 1600-1700 RPM in the below video. Didn't want to run it very long, as I only added 2 quarts of oil, and a gallon of water along with a small amount of diesel for a tryout.

Do any of you guys know how many quarts of oil this model calls for? I couldnt find anything in the manual.
