Listeroid Engines / Hot Water Circulator Max Temp Rating.
« on: October 20, 2023, 10:20:04 PM »
Hello,

I am looking at some Grundfos hot water circulator pumps for the radiator on my Listeroid 10/1. The one that I am looking at is rated max temp of 150-degrees farenheit. Is that high enough to handle the ranges on my generator?

Thanks,

Jim

Listeroid Engines / How To Choose A Radiator
« on: August 16, 2023, 12:22:59 PM »

Hello,

The radiator on my 10-HP / 1-Cylinder Lister Clone has 1 - substantial leak at the fitting where the freon exits the radiator. I showed it to my friend who is an old school plumber and very good at soldering and he is recommending that I just try to find another radiator at the junk yard. Is there a certain type and size radiator that I should be looking for?

Thank you for the advice.

Listeroid Engines / Radiator Coolant Pump or Fan
« on: August 09, 2023, 06:53:57 PM »

Greetings Fellow Lister Enthusiasts,

Would someone please advise me as to whether or not I should install a radiator coolant pump or fan on my Listeroid 10/1? The dimensions of the radiator are 21" x 41". It is installed above the generator. The temperature of the fluid exit port is about 240 - degrees F and the temperature of the fluid entrance port is about 215 - degrees F.

Thanks for the great help.

Listeroid Engines / Muffler Through Wall Question
« on: February 11, 2022, 04:32:44 PM »

Greetings Fellow Lister Enthusiasts,

I was wondering if someone would please give me some guidance about the muffler on my 10/1 Listeroid?

I currently have the generator installed in my garage and have a muffler vented through the roof. I am installing solar panels on the roof so the muffler needs to be removed. The generator is about 3' from the garage wall so I should be able to vent it out of the wall. My question is, Do I have to put an elbow on the muffler and turn it up after it exits the garage? I would rather not because then everything that comes out of the muffler will land on the solar panels.

Thanks for the help.

Lister Based Generators / Concerns About My First Real Test
« on: September 11, 2018, 01:10:10 AM »
Hello Everyone,

Hope you all are well.

I installed a Powerline 10/1 about 6 years ago and I may finally have the opportunity to give it a real test.  I could not have gone this far without the help of the nice folks on this forum.

We may be getting hit by a hurricane here in NC and may be without power for several days. I have never run the generator longer than about an hour so I am a little hesitant to run it 24 / 7 especially during the times that I am not there to monitor it. My wife will be there.  I have never run more than a couple of baseboard heaters in order to exercise the generator and now I am going to run lights, computers, TV, fans, freezer, refrigerator, etc. I understand about managing load because I install generator transfer kits for a living. I am mostly worried about the generator getting hot, about it suddenly cutting off and damaging electronics, about it catching on fire (it is in my garage).
Should my biggest concern be the generator overheating? I believe that I measured 200+ degrees on the generator once. I have a huge liquid radiator mounted a little higher than the generator however I do not have a circulator.
Should I take steps to protect the electronics in the house? That would mean protecting most everything because about everything has a PC board in it.
I once damaged the board on our gaspack one freezing cold winter when I did not give the gas generator enough time to warm up. Once it warmed up the setting of the throttle was mismatched and the generator cut off. When that happened it damaged the gaspack.
The generator has a 7kw head, is there a way to estimate how many gallons of fuel it will consume? This way I can refill the tank before it runs out.

Thanks for letting me put my thoughts on paper. If you would not mind making a recommendation or two I would appreciate it.

Best regards,

Jim

Engines / Engine Wont Start
« on: November 25, 2017, 08:12:45 PM »
Hello,

I have a Listeroid Power Line 10hp 7.35 kw 1000RPM generator. A few months ago it ran out of diesel while running and now it won't start. I believe that I did a halfway decent job of bleeding the lines and there is diesel coming out of the fuel line where it enters the cylinder head while hand cranking but for some reason I am getting zero smoke. Is there a good way to spray ether or inject brand new diesel into the head?

Hoping to jump start it with a burst of ether or fresh diesel.

Thank you,

Jim

Hello,

There is no fuel coming out of the fuel pump of my "Powerline" 10/1 while cranking. I checked and there is fuel flowing into it. Before I take it apart can someone please recommend the things that I should consider? Like replacing parts inside the pump while I have it disassembled?
Here is the info that I have on the pump

Lister Based Generators / Lister 10/1 Awfully Close To Vegetable Garden
« on: November 06, 2016, 10:59:51 AM »
Hello,

I installed my Lister 10/1 in my garage which is about 15' from my vegetable garden. The muffler is about 18' from the garden and is about 15' tall. Are there any preventative measures that I can take to ensure that nothing exiting the muffler will find its way onto the vegetable garden?

Thank you,

Jim

Things I want to Buy / FREQUENCY SENSOR
« on: July 22, 2016, 08:57:57 PM »
Hello,

I would like to automatically disconnect the electrical  load on my generator when it senses that I am out of gas or is turning off for some other reason. I am wondering if a frequency sensor would do the trick. Would anyone please recommend a good frequency sensor for my application? My generator is a

Listeroid Engines / Powerline Listeroid 10/1 leaking fuel at fuel filter
« on: September 13, 2014, 12:33:13 AM »
Greetings Fellow Listeroid Enthusiasts,

I started up my Powerline Listeroid 10/1 today and I noticed fuel leaking out of the fuel filter area. I tried to loosen the nut at the bottom to investigate and it would not budge. I was wondering whether or not the nut at the bottom of the filter actually comes off?

Thank you,

Listeroid Engines / Exhaust System Thread Sealant
« on: August 16, 2014, 12:27:04 AM »
Hello,

I have set up my Listeroid 10/1 in my garage. I am using various sections of 2" rigid pipe as the muffler system. The system works good thanks to all of the advice given to me by this forum. Does anyone have a recommendation for a good thread sealant for these 2" rigid threads? I called Jeggs Automotive and they could not find anything rated over a temperature of 500 degrees F. I have a tube of 'RUTLAND BUFF' Fireplace Mortar which is rated at 2000 degrees F. However it is rated for mortar and brick only. Has anyone had any experience with this type of problem and can possibly make some recommendations?

Thanks for all of the help.

Listeroid Engines / Reduce Vibration To Muffler
« on: May 24, 2014, 09:58:50 PM »
Hello,
I have a Powerline 10/1 with a 10' X 2" pipe and muffler exhaust assembly system. There is no place to add a piece of flexible 2" line at the beginning of the assembly without cutting a new hole in my garage roof for the new pipe location. I was thinking about replacing the system with a piece of flexible 2" hose about 10' long. I do not like the idea but it beats cracking my cylinder. Are there any other methods to reduce vibration to a muffler / pipe assembly other than the standard flex hoses offered on the market?
Thanks,
Jim

Listeroid Engines / 7.5kw ST Head Stopped Producing Electricity
« on: March 26, 2014, 08:30:50 PM »
Hello,

I have a 7.5kw ST head that stopped producing electricity.
Two days ago it was working fine.
Yesterday I did not test electricity but I did start generator and ran it for a few minutes. (Note: Yesterday when I started the generator there were two 1kw baseboard heaters plugged into it. Hence, I did start it under load. I did not check to see if the heaters were warming up or not or check the voltage output of the head. I assumed it was producing power).
Today I ran the generator and checked the voltage and noticed that it was not producing power.
Is there something that could have blown when I started the generator under load yesterday?

Pictures of this head can be seen through the following link.  <iframe width="480" height="360" src="http://s1172.photobucket.com/user/Aristotle-Rand/embed/slideshow/"></iframe>

Thank you,

Jim
