Original Lister Cs Engines / I've finnaly got them home!
« on: February 08, 2010, 05:47:48 PM »
I went last week and collected the two 6/1 som's I'd bought off ebay just before christmas :) Intention is to us in my off grid cabin with wvo or waste oil of some sort - IO have 1000+ litres of old thermal oil already.

One is running ok, the other siezed. Both are missing the alternators and associated electrical gear but have the bases.

I've started to strip the siezed one for now, and am designing and fabricating mounts for my heavy duty 24-38 alternator set up from the e mod genny I had. I need to sort the fuel tank & cooling setup, eventually I'll add a couple of domestic rads in to the cabin to dump the heat.

I've the head off and diesel sitting in the bore to try and free the piston, it was full of water, the injector is missing :-( The bore is still nice polished chrome so maybe will still work.  It has / well both have frost damage.  The running machine has been welll repaired / welded, the broken one has a brass plate drilled and tapped into the block - haven't got it off yet.

I've tried a few of the dating sites - don't tell the mrs lol... but cant decipher the engine serial nos? Can somebody help?  5012515 & the slightly older one (has spoked flywheels rather than the heavier som ones) 496461R6.

Thanks, No doubt I'll be back with more more difficult questions later.

Rgds, Steve
