Engines / Air intake shut off
« on: December 15, 2009, 04:50:36 PM »
I hope to be able to shut off my lister engine remotely.  Is it necessary to have a air intake shut off for this? I have a 24/2 Power Anand.
Their manual says it could happen but I wonder if anyone has experienced a run away due to not having one.

Engines / Piston Load Sharing
« on: December 15, 2009, 01:30:06 AM »
I am just getting my engine going so I do not have any knowledge of how it ran before this.

I was trying to see if two fuel shut off solenoids, one per cylinder, would shut the engine off in sufficient time. To do this I replaced the existing fuel line with flexible hose and used a couple of valves to simulate a fuel solenoid. When I started the engine up, I noticed only one cylinder was firing while the other was only putting out a mist out of its muffler but no heat. However when the cylinder that was working was shut off, the other started to run.

I checked the fuel lines for air and they seem to be OK. I cracked the pressure side of the injector and it had fuel coming out. The timing was adjusted by someone who knows what they are doing about a year ago and the engine has sat since then.

Is there any suggestions about the possible problem?

Engines / Coolant Pressure

I am using a standard automobile radiator on a 24/2 engine made by power anand. I am wondering what pressure it is best to run the coolant at.

Engines / Fuel Shutoff
« on: December 02, 2009, 12:04:29 PM »
I am wondering if a standard fuel shut off will shut down a 24/2 engine without a serious delay time from when the solinoid shuts off and the engine does. I wonder because it is said that these engines have a very high idle efficiency and that means it may take a while to drain the remainder fuel in the line. Is it necessary to have an actuator on the lever for the governor to shut off the injectors instead?

Engines / Over temperature Protection

I am being told that a standard coolant temperature switch or sender is not adequate for a slow speed engine. Was told I should use a engine block temp. switch instead. Is this correct?

Generators / About Automatic Start
« on: August 20, 2009, 05:48:14 AM »
Hello,
I plan to use a genset controller that has automatic starter disengage when the generated frequency. (see earlier post:  )

I plan to disconnect the automatic voltage regulator with the main breaker. I plan to start the generator with the main breaker off. It is necessary though that some voltage be generated for the speed sense.it is my understanding that there is residual magnetism in the rotor this is what initially starts the generator's exciter field. I wonder if anyone who has a alternator like mine can find out what voltage it produces at 700 RPM with the AVR disconnected.

My generator is a TFW-24 3 phase 120/208 volt from Yancheng Best Engine Manufacturing Company.

Before we do this can someone knowledgeable confirm that disconnecting AVR will not damage it?

General Discussion / Arrow Engines
« on: August 20, 2009, 05:36:04 AM »
In a search for larger slow speed engines I came across a engine made by Arrow Engine Company. Model#L975. Was wondering if there may be a way to convert to diesel from natural gas

Engines / Turbos
« on: August 20, 2009, 05:31:32 AM »
Hello,
I was wondering if anyone has ever put a turbo on a 24/2 series engine from anand enterprises. I saw some threads with some speculation but not sure if anyone has done it.

Engines / Automatic Start

Has anyone used a genset controller with automatic start with a slow speed lister engine? I plan to use a Dynagen SC400 genset controller and I am wondering if this has been done before or if there are any opinions about whether or not it will work with these. (When I say automatic start I mean the start button is momentarrily pressed and the starter runs for a set time or untill a set level or RPMs is reached.)

Engines / Electronic governers

Is there any type of electronic or electroniclly controlled hydrolic governer commonly available for the slow speed lister engine? 24 HP 20cylinder

Generators / paralleling generators
« on: July 06, 2009, 04:21:35 AM »
Has anyone ever ran any of these Lister powerline engine generators in parallel before?
Can it be done with mechanical governors.
If so does the reverse power relay trip often?
