Listeroid Engines / Re: 20 inch Stover flywheels
« on: June 02, 2012, 07:18:28 PM »
I had a conversation with Phil, (I think), at CMD a couple of years ago about electric start kits. But it just sort of went away. CMD is a member of the group. he's centralmainediesel on this site, though he has not posted since dec. 9th 2010. have you tried talking to Phil ? he seemed like a nice enough & helpful guy. please post pictures if you can, as i am still interested in electric start. The weights most likely are to replace the weights bolted to the crankshaft. is this the kit with the single, solid flywheel to replace one of your existing wheels ? if so Stationary parts in England has sold them for years & had some info on them on their site. try looking here           http://www.stationary engineparts.com//   would you mind if I asked what your kit consisted of & how much it cost?  Thanks

It's also interesting  that it says you posted "today at 10:04:16 pm", but on your profile page it says that your current time is "feb 14, 2011 @ 07:20:22 pm" & you are in the western time zone so the time should be closer to 02:20 pm.

Do you hear the theme to "twilight Zone " playing the background ???  LOL

Listeroid Engines / Re: No Oil Pump???

Top end oiling is provided by ........ wait for it ....... YOU !!. the rocker arms, valves ect are given a squirt of oil about every eight or so hours along with the govenor & fuel rack linkages.  Often the rocker arms shaft will have a grease cup attached that is filled with grease & occasionally you will give it a turn injecting fresh grease to the shaft. most people just remove the cup & insert a zerk fitting into the hole, it is 1/8 inch npt, then shoot it with grease before starting.

Listeroid Engines / Re: Cooling Drum

For installation, repair & maitenance check here http://www.poweranand.com/instruction.htm
Lovson & anand used to be in "cahoots" with each other but they broke up thier relationship sometime in the recent past i beleieve.
Never the less, all the listeroids except the GM-90 versions are about all the same. there are very few parts interchange ability problems.
It seems the reason for this is that most of the parts "suppliers" over there are just people with a small foundry in thier yard & they will sell whatever parts they may make to any & all of the "manufacturers" who are really more "assemblers".

Hi Cowboy & welcome,
Your cooling drum should never be sealed by any thing. most are just a drum with the top cut out. the reason being, you will need to add water to it as the evaporation is what does the cooling, secondly if it boils & is sealed too well it could rupture (think bomb) unless it has some kind of relief valve.  some will use plain water, i would use anti-freeze, since i'd like mine to be ready to run in cold weather, plus it will keep the corrosion down inside the engine & drum. I'm sure someone has posted a copy of a manual on the site some where. i'll see if i can find it.
