General Discussion / 2.5 hp Suzuki Outboard (high speed needed)
« on: September 11, 2009, 09:01:39 PM »
I had a minivacation on Georgian Bay this summer..
I traveled 116km in 2 days in my canoe...

I was testing out my new 2.5hp four stroke suzuki outboard i installed on the canoe i built a few years ago..

The boat fully loaded wieghed 400lbs 1/4oz...
I had 1 litre oil containers full of fuel i kept dumping in everytime it ran out..
On 1 Litre of fuel i averaged:
Distance 24.325km
Speed 9.3 km
Time moving 2:36
MAx speed 13.125 km
The views were awesome...

Hercules had a great time and thinks this place is the best place in the world to play...

This was my bed for a few nights...it was amazing to watch the meteor shower...a meteorite was falling at about every 5 seconds for awhile...like my own personal fireworks display...

I even had time to stop at Henry's world famous Fish and Chips out on one of the islands...busy place 4 float planes took off while i was eating my pickeral dinner...

The rock formations from erosion are interesting to look at...hard to imagine anything that could wear the granite into these wierd designs..

Have a great summer all...
Time to go out camping again...see you all in a few days..

I never could figure out religion...
Even the simple things about it confused me...
Like the crosses hanging everywhere...
Poeple expect Jesus to return and they put crosses up...????
I really dont think he wants to see another one of them...i know i wouldnt..

Apply solder to the opposite side of the pipe/fitting from where you are heating the pipe with a torch...
Solder will travel to the heat...i dunno why...but it does...

General Discussion / Re: Question for the Canadians
« on: July 01, 2009, 10:51:52 PM »
Bears in Parry Sound figured out the automatic doors in the grocery store and would enter and help themselves then leave...
This infuriated the grocer (because they never paid for anything i suppose) and he made the Ministry of Natural Resourses install a bear trap outback...
They baited the trap with day old donuts from timmys...
Rumour has it that they caught 3 cops the first night...

General Discussion / Re: GM bankrupcy !!!

I bought a 2002 gmc full size truck from the dealer....i need a reliable truck for work....
I fought with the salesman for days over having to order just a bare truck.....no electric windows, no leather electric seats...i wanted a standard transmission....a basic truck...
After 20,000km the rearbrake rotors failed......no warranty...
after 25,000km new rotorcap and wires for the engine....warranty job...
after 62,000km universal joints went in driveshaft.....no warranty....
after 65,000km new rotorcap and wires again....no warranty...and this time they broke the rotor housing...i showed them how to fix it with silicon sealant.....
after 89,000km new rotorcap and wires AGAIN...this time it was a factory recall....apparently there was no vent hole drilled in the housing...never returned any money i payed out to fix this problem....
I traded the truck in immediately at 90,000km on a dodge dekota.....
I will never buy a gmc again....ever...i hope they go under...

Red Stone Engines / Re: Redstone engines
« on: March 20, 2009, 05:10:54 PM »
The Redstone engines look worthy of a full automation system...already has the electrics...nice when the wimmen can start them..
Making a Lister fully automatic kinda wrecks the beauty and simplicity of the engine..adding starters, wiring, pullys, solenoids quickly makes it into a frankenlister...
Redstones come ugly enough already to warrant automation....
I see the original Blackstone was 16hp at 800 rpm...so the similaritys are only in the engine configuration?

Generators / Re: generac HTS ATS

Switch operation is instigated by the generator controller.

Read the manual.....

Remote start, stop and transfer through GenLinkĀ® Communications Software...

You might be able to program this one todo what you want...its in the manual...

Software probably is expensive.....and hard to reprogram if the thing isnt making power to run the computer...

This link gives you some of the basic ideas for a system...
Its for solar and wind systems..the only systems approved in Ontario that i know of...
Apparently they dont consider a lister running as enviromentaly friendly....
