Greetings all,
I inherited a piece of equipment with a Lister Petter LPWS4 that would only run with the throttle wide open. I did a compression test and the best I got was 80 PSI. I tore into the engine and all compression rings were seized in place from carbon and I would assume starting fluid. After a major clean up and new rings, my compression issue is fixed. I put everything back together and fire it up. At full throttle, it runs just a bit faster than an idle. If I back off the throttle it eventual stalls the motor. I loosen the fuel lines on top of the injectors and with the throttle in the idle position I get little to know fuel. In the full throttle position, I get more fuel, but still not what it should be. So now, I start looking into the injector pumps. All of them were installed with the peg correctly in the rail guiding them for on and off. The injector pumps themselves appear to be good. I tore them down and to see if any had blockage inside. They did not and were super clean and appeared to be new. This is when I noticed the rail that moves the fuel control them just doesn't appear to be moving them to the full open position. With the fuel cut-off solenoid removed and everything free to move, it still doesn't got to full open position with on pushing on the rail a bit. When I let pressure off, the rail comes back from the full open position. I am including a video link of what is happening. It appears that the governor does not return to the correct position and causes the fuel rail to return to a more closed position. Please see the attached video and let me know your thoughts. This is my first experience with a Lister Petter, so I am curious if I am on the right track and maybe missing how this issue gets resolved. Thanks in advanced!
