With the assistance of my 3rd Minion, we pulled everything off of the new engine (cylinder, head, piston, rod, oil filter housing, fuel injection pump and injector), installed all those parts on the original engine and gave it a quick crank over to have it start and run! (There may have been some encouragement from starting fluid to get it running and wait for the line to prime...)

After a little tinkering with the injection pump and governor, and we had it ready for a test drive!

We're very happy with how it runs and drives. We still need to work on a throttle cable, clutch brake and get the seat recovered. However, those are all minor things!

I was able to get the "new engine" mounted and running today, only to realize it runs backwards of the other engine. (Palms forehead and maybe swears....).

It runs nicely:

Now the question is; do I have one forward and three reverse,  swap everything over to the other engine and hope it's good (because I have no idea why it was disassembled), swap the cam shafts?

I'm at a loss as option one really isn't an option, so its down to the last two... more to follow.

Nice truck! Love those old Fords. Nice score on the engine as well.

Thanks. I have a pair. This truck is a '70 F100 on a '07 CrownVic Chassis. The other is a '68 F250 Highboy, fully restored.

I was rather startled to see a Petter PC1 pop up for sale over to Boise, yesterday, just a couple hours away from me!

I woke up early and ran over to meet the seller before he had to go to work this morning.

This engine is complete and does hit on a little starting fluid, however it needs a valve job.

This one is 1053ish away from my other engine production wise, according to the serial numbers. It has a few changes from my early engine.

I'm hopeful with a valve job, and some parts swapping from my engine, I'll have a running tractor soon!

I have a .010 under set, though I'd very much prefer not having the crank ground as it is in quite nicely condition. If it helps, that bearing set also has a Vandervell logo with part number A2601

Back to work on the Petter engine from this tractor: I'm looking for a big end rod bearing in STD size. The part number on the old shell is 255604, appears that it also has  a Vandevell logo on it. Does anyone have a means to cross reference this bearing to something readily available?

Thanks for any assistance available!

Does anyone have a means to cross reference this bearing to something readily available? This engine came to me in pieces and I've slowly been collecting parts. This is the last item I need. So far, this forum has been  the answer to all my parts needs!

Thanks for any assistance available!

^ Update, I looked out the PC con rod yesterday.
Its in good condition, and even comes with fair condition STD piston and rings. Piston rings may be good to go again if carefully cleaned up, as I tried them in a Petter AC1 cylinder barrel (also 3" bore) and the ring gaps looked acceptable.

The con rod also has a set of big end shells which are also in reasonable condition. Only problem is they are -0.010" undersize. Let me know if your interested via PM.

I sent you a PM. Thanks for keeping an eye out for me!

I am missing the connecting rod cap for this engine, as well as the bearing... anyone have an extra connecting rod or a source for something that will work? ( something with a 2" crank pin and 3" stroke). I also need a piston, as mine is cracked

Thanks!

Thank you! It has been purchased and is on the way! Just a few more pieces and I can start trying to get this engine assembled and running.

I'll send you a message. Making one from aluminum should be too hard as I have a lathe. I'll just need to know dimensions. I'm missing everything, so I'll need nozzle and all.

It appears I can buy a complete injector assembly for a PH/AV here in the states for an affordable price. Once I get the engine in the shop and figure out what all I need, I'll add it to my list! https://www.ebay.com/itm/Fuel-Injector-For-Petter-318862-130S26C175P3-PH-HL-PHW-AV-AVA-/153544769353?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&_trksid=p2349624.m46890.l49286&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0

Thank you for the information. I have reached out to Mr. Perkins, but have had no response after several attempts.

I really appreciate the insight and information you have provided as that will give me some options of what to look for. I unfortunately, the entire injector and shroud are missing. I'll have to order an aluminum unit to use with my engine and machine it to fit.

Too bad your parts engine was short the injector parts!

sorry i can't help with the parts problem, but dang that is one cool little tractor!
and the rubber looks great!

so many old small tractors that survive around here have rubber that is so cracked and weather checked it is amazing that air isn't forced in from the outside.

good luck getting the old girl up and running again.

One of the previous owners added new rubber to make it easy to move about. Then, it's been stored inside ever after.
