Listeroid Engines / Re: Top quality Listeroid exporter
« on: April 02, 2022, 03:03:52 AM »
Yessiree I have finaly located that Listeroid "manufacturer" with good engines. Customer left one here to be checked over. Literature says ISO 9001 manufacturer of top quality agricultural equipment, quanteed no sand and correctly assembled.  ;D  ;D ;D
Check out the garbage in this twin block! last pic is a pile of sand and slag I removed in about 20 minutes with a needle scaler, about 100 times what it would take to ruin the engine. Plus the oil pump intake was completely covered by a slipped core and casting flash.  This engine would have been toast in 30 minutes or less. People often ask, is it realy necessary to take them all the way down?? You all be the judge.
As far as I can tell not really a surprise or big deal anymore. Been this way since GeorgrB started importing them many years back. As the saying goes it is like putting steak sauce on dog shit. And they want top dollar here for these things lol.
I am sure glad a few other fella's on another forum warned me about these roids being overly hyped up about nothing. And can do alot better with most of the newer 2-3 cylinder diesel engines out there, for cleaner, cheaper to run and maintain. Plus last more hours. jmo.
Happy I did not ending up shelling out $2500-$4000 for one brand new. Ya I can clean the sand and slag out of them easy enough. But if they are that careless when building them in India,  then there is probably even more wrong with them.

Things I want to Buy / Re: Generator head pulley
« on: February 12, 2022, 11:16:15 PM »
I machined exactly one of those pulleys when a serp drive was necessary or one would get thrown out of the cool club. If I priced making another one even at zero profit I would get laughed at.  Truth of the matter is the actual HP savings over a V belt drive is so neglegable that it cannot been determined except in a laboratory setting. Everything I have set up since that first one uses 2 A section belts, 8.5 OD 2 belt sheave which will have a pitch diameter of around 8.25 depending on manufacturer and engine speeds of 630 RPM or so.
Of course it is up to you how you spend your money but that whole serp belt deal was mostly an unnecessary and expensive fad. If you are dead set on saving a quart of fuel per year via tbe belt drive then go with a V belt pulley and instead of a standard belt purchase a box of A section link belt from Fenner Drives.
I agree 100% The serpentine belt "may" have a slight advantage vs the standard 2 A belt v pulley and I guess it looks cooler.. 2 qaulity A belts on a v pulley has been around for since the beginning. JMO.. And I realize this is not an answer to the op's original question.

Listeroid Engines / Re: Import of Listeroids - Food for thought

Hi VP, Nope not sure about anything. But what I was thinking is it is part of an engine. What is the difference between shipping a cylinder head and crankshaft from India OR a bare block that is about as ready to run as a crankshaft or any other single listeroid part that gets shipped here everyday. Maybe I am just not getting it,  How about this way. Say I have a genuine lister or a listeroid and the crankshaft broke and took a piece of the crankcase with it. I already own the engine before the ban, I cant get individual parts shipped for my engine? They dont have to know if it is furniture or an engine. It would be labeled engine part , not trying to fool anybody and get an engine shipped and calling it a table saw. Not hoping to sneak by all the you call morons there at the EPA.

I have been contacting one of the India companies that sells listeroid parts. They are one of the few that actually have the foundry to pour cast iron. Most of the rest are just parts assemblers that get their parts form the few bigger companies there. This company advertises a 6/1 empty crankcase and will ship to USA. Have not received a complete price yet but it is possible. Cant see the EPA complaining about a cast iron block being shipped here.

IMO the best way to import these is not to import engines but parts. The question is when does an engine go from parts to an engine legally. Based on my conversations with cbp that is a very grey line.

You can already buy them from Gary at DES as a kit where the bottom end is assembled and the top end is in another box on the same crate roughly $2300 plus shipping for a 6/1.
Jim Caldor in Ontario Canada sells them as air compressors to his customers in the USA. Also roughly $2400. Sends the cylinder head and fuel system parts in a different box a few days later.

The crankcase and flywheels are the tough ones to ship. DEV a listeroid parts seller will sell a 6/1 either roller bearing or bush type crankshaft for $235 including shipping. If you buy 2 they will sell them for $230 each. $460 for 2 cranks sent by DHL seems like a good deal.

I am of the opinion also that these need to be purchased in a box of just the main parts,  like crankcase, crankshaft,  flywheels.  Cylinder and head could be found else where and will add to much weight to the shipment.  All the other parts to finish these engines are pretty easily to find in the USA. And most of the rest of the parts to complete one are inexpensive.  Of course this may interest less people who have to look for parts and then assemble their own. They have to disasembled anyway to clean the crap out of them.

Shipping for two 6/1 crankshafts were almost $600....  $600 for "just the shipping" ? Sounds a bit extreme.

 Here is one.

Maybe the changfa's can now be sold again in the USA.

One of these showed up for sale locally. 196CC 3HP diesel. I thought the EPA banned the small diesels? Anyway I  searched them a bit and found they are on eBay and Amazon and if you shop a bit, just over $200. For that kind of money I ordered one just to play with.
Be interesting to see how long that will last with splash lube. That thing looks cheap. The 10hp yanmar clones are at least copied off of a diesel engine. It looks this may be a copy of a gasoline engine. Yes would be interesting to see internals. Aluminum rod I wonder?

The engine in that video was made in 2015. And it is stamped Purpose: Stationary use. Maybe this is how they are allowed in.

I just posted the same basic topic lol without even seeing yours. How are a boatload showing up on ebay? 10hp 186f diesel clones of the yanmar L100. There are many sellers in different states selling these. They have less than zero emissions on them but here they are, and the Listeroid is banned.

Changfa Engines / 186f 10hp diesels for sale on ebay. How?
« on: September 01, 2021, 08:28:26 PM »
I know this is a changfa type section. But this has had me wondering for a while.  The last 6-12 months these engines have over run ebay. If you do a search of smaller type diesel engines.  They are the air cooled 186 f Chinese clone of the Yanmar L100. They were sold in the U.S on generator setups under various name's until about 2011-2012 I think.      Then they were supposedly banned due to the EPA ::).
Today these same engines can be purchased on Ebay from many different sellers in a few different states. Mainly they ship from California of all places ???  (Tree hugger capital of the world among various other lunatics). These engines have zero emission controls not even tier -1.5 :o ;D... Obviously they are coming by the container load. Can one of you guys help me understand how these supposed EPA illegal engines are getting into this country from china? But the Listeroid and some others are a big no-no. Thanks. Here are a few links..

Things I want to Buy / Looking for changfa r170
« on: June 26, 2021, 11:29:44 PM »
Anyone in the eastern part of usa, actually northeast part, have any changfa engines or parts takin up space? Looking for a r170 or maybe bigger. Anything used or enough parts to build one? Trying to get into the changfa or lister lifestyle has not been easy. Seems like alot of people want alot of money for listeroids that are poorly manufactured with sub par parts and materials. At least the chinese chanfa's and other diesels they make are reasonably priced, built alot better than the india crap. And parts are easy to get. Not knocking the roid, but at Anywhere between $2700-$3495 for a 6/1, it aint all that.. ??? ::) Thanks. keith in Connecticut.
