Glort is alive and well, just running a muck somewhere else at the moment. He is still his charming and irreverent self.

Generators / Re: Standby generator

Its been awhile but i think the ST2 was about 14.6 hp at 1800 rpm. So that's about 10.8 kw. So to run the engine at 1800 and the generator at 3600 your right about the 2:1 ratio, but you wont have the power the run the generator at its full 10kw.

My ZS195 10.3Kw will run my ST 7.5Kw  at almost full load.

So my guess is you would see about 7kw.

Changfa Engines / Ring Gear for s195
« on: April 10, 2020, 02:40:28 PM »
Looking for a suitable ring gear and starter motor to fit to a ZS195.
Has any body had a go at this. Getting the stather conversion kit from china is out of the question, as its 80kg.
So o was thinking a ring gear off and starter from a small car would be a way to go.

Getting ready for my older years.

98% sulfuric acid,   35% hydrogen peroxide. That should dispose of the body, but add a few kg of lye, just to make certain.  ;) ;D :D

So thankfully we missed the whole fire season. Though like you all our friends haven't been so lucky.
Glad everyone is well so merry Christmas to all from the old dart.
My 2020 find you all well when I return.

The Mighty Redstone.

These are pictures of one taken "back in the day" 3 or 4 years ago any way.
So it looks like you have found a supplier.

Good luck.

Everything else / Modbus RS 485 Energy meters
« on: October 17, 2019, 06:56:03 AM »
Way off topic.

I'm looking for a few modbus energy meters, for a solar install.
Must be able to measure export and Import, energy.
And be able to be read via a Pi or Ardunio.
So if you have had a play with any of this, or just know of a quality meter supplier.
Please chime in, with your wisdom. Thought and suggestions.

Everything else / Re: Welder
« on: August 27, 2019, 07:15:26 AM »
Sort of on the subject of welders. I have got sick of waiting for the welder. To make my generator frame. For the mighty ZS195  and its 5kw friend.
So i went a bought myself one.  https://www.tradetools.com/product-range/welding-equipment/welding-machines/renegade-140-amp-inverter-arc-welder-20-duty-cycle
140 amp inverter 10amp power point operastioon gloves, auto dacking mask, an d chipping hammer.
All for $200. even though in a pack of 6018 and so old bits of plate for me to start practicing on.
I last welded in 1975. so this might be entertaining, im thinking.

So all your welding talk has fired me up to have a go.So were do i sign up for lessons.

well there still made.

And seem no worse than all the others. Go have a look at it and see what you think.
You could bring a new one in for the same money if you wont to do the customs thing.
Always fun. The engine is about 15 years old, but if it hasn't had a lot of use its still a 22 hp engine with electric start.

Impressive as it is,my favorite moment was sticking the blade of a screwdriver inside the ring spanner. So it would "fit" the nut.
I never would of thought of that. lol
