General Discussion / Re: Replacing an engine
« on: January 28, 2020, 03:06:20 PM »
Thanks for the reply.  The only reason I am looking at exchanging the engine is to have increased Horse power. Would it be possible to rebore my LD2 to the size of an SR2 or is this not a viable option?

Engines / LD2 noisy engine

I have an LD2 in my narrow boat and wondered if there are any suggestions for making it quieter. Could I put a tail pipe on my exhaust and have it in the water? would it be any use ?. Is there a way of lagging the intake filter and would it be of benefit? What is best for insulating the deck boards above the engine. Any ideas welcomed.

Need a new silencer box for an LD2 providing it fits are there any special requirements i.e maximum size, or are they pressure related in some way
Thanks

Engines / Re: LD2 Crankshaft

Once the prop shaft is removed the flywheel etc is  accessible I think the sump could only be removed if the engine is lifted. I was hoping the sump would not require removal.I think only the sump is inaccessible plenty of room at the rear tight at the sides but possible some room at the front.
Thanks
Brian

I have an LD2 in my Narrow boat with an oil leak from the rear crankshaft seal. Can this seal be replaced without removing the engine?
