Can't claim the direct knowledge but what I see online:

Beru 0.100.226.238 replacement glow plugs
Magneti Marelli UC8A
Valeo 345105

Engines / Re: Alpha LPW/S water pump sleeve seals

Its just tension held, I would take it out and replace both O rings. Clean up the opening with some steel wool and WD40 or similar. You are probably just getting some rust making the sleeve a little bit difficult to remove. If I am that far in, I am pulling both and replacing. Cheap insurance to me. Its not a part that leaks often.

I would be looking at the path of least resistance... so maybe I will check those two models out. I have had excellent luck with the Alphas, I just want to see about taking a less complex model, that has less maintenance and wear items (considering where the world may be headed, I am trying to build up more robust solutions for my own backup) and mate it to the VERY high quality genheads I have here. I already know what voltage regulator I want to use, its really more of figuring out if there is a suitable powerplant to do what I am thinking.

I have already bingo'd Gary @ DES directly by email. Perhaps he will come upon this thread as well. Thanks for the insight.

Is there documentation out there that shows the various fuel burn rates of the engines Lister manufactured over the years? I am very familiar with the Alphas (LPW2 and LPW4) in the military generator applications, but I would like to see if they produced any 2-4 cylinder air cooled engines that would be suitable for 1800RPM genset use... and what their respective fuel burn is.

I believe the Alphas have an SAE 5 flywheel housing on them. I have a number of new in box military generator heads that were made to work with the Alphas... and it would be very interesting to find an air cooled machine which could directly couple with one of these.

Thanks for any knowledge and assistance.

Engines / Re: LPWS4 Injector Pump not 'spitting'
« on: March 19, 2023, 01:46:40 PM »
Yes one or more of your metering pumps are frozen, causing the entire fuel rack to hang up in place. You are probably going to have to take the gear end cover off, to access the rack and pumps enough to liberally cover all surfaces in liquid wrench or similar to get everything moving. If you are able to. You cannot remove the metering pumps until its fully retracted. Good luck.

Thank you for the kind words John. Glad it arrived in good condition and that you are happy with the item!

Have you taken the metering pump out of the block? The plunger could be frozen in place, or misaligned in the lower spring. You could also have lower pump parts in your oil reservoir....

Listeroid Engines / Re: There be a listeroid 12/2

Was this the unit I saw on FB Marketplace in CT?

These heads are designed to bolt up to the Lister Petter Alpha series (LPW2 and LPW4 specifically). They may also work with the 3 cylinder models (my assumption).

I have one of those VR kits in my 803 (military gen set) and will say it is one of the best
kits I have ever purchased. The parts included are all labeled and the instructions are clear
and easy to follow.

Are you on Steel Soldiers?

And I will add further, I know of a voltage regulator that will work with this head (actually an updated civilian equivalent to what the put in the military machines) that can be connected to produce 3PH if you wanted to wire it up as such. I reached out to the builder (a friend of mine here in MA) and this was his exact response:

"Yes my VR would work for that application.  It just needs to be hooked up to N and one of 3 phase legs to get its 120 volts AC to operate.
The setup would need a small circuit so the gen head can be flashed after starting the engine.  Would be a pushbutton ,  a resistor and a diode."

Happy to discuss further if interested. The actual VR can be seen here: https://www.ebay.com/itm/184550789499?hash=item2af815917b:g:Sd0AAOSwbNte96Ea&amdata=enc%3AAQAHAAAAoOcFhR89NJ9b5Ec8hOrGGYec84Eh9B0xZbOWTQs2Qpvt4btUpRBxMdS31I8NfF4c3e3lsmpmjUjDKBY5d0d9kGfDtiOgJhCozUECkR3b7cBl9SKJ%2BOXAG%2Fvu%2BwLPZPnKF92bwRuvD7u3xw%2B22aBbjGQZdxnvVDtHuvROOV6aQ6bIr2P5ONrR%2FkJ%2Flb3QjS6t%2B2RhbF28EJlRvYxaYHObNG8%3D%7Ctkp%3ABk9SR_jwxI3jYA

Also I am located in Massachusetts, but can ship anywhere a common carrier goes. I sell the military gensets all over the US and Canada.

There is a field exciter included in the genhead on this equipment. In the military machines they tie back to a voltage regulator. This genhead is complete with the 12 wire output, and the 2 field exciting wires. This is a VERY high quality brushless head. I service and resell military diesel generators, and came into a quantity of these new in box. Photos below are of the field exciter, as well as the 'black magic' area on the military gensets.

I know they are not necessarily Lister related, but as they include flywheels (which could accept a belt drive in a somewhat unconventional way) perhaps they are of use to someone on these boards.

I have (5) New in Box military generator heads available. They are rated 12.5KVA (I also have a smaller one, same design, but for the smaller military platform at 6.25KVA). See photos. They are still in the crate, 12 wire heads. $1,200/ea plus freight to your location. These were $4400 new to Uncle Sam in large volume purchases.

1800RPM operation. In the military application (MEP-803A) they are reconfigurable to 120V 1PH, 240V 1PH, and 120/208 3PH.
