Listeroid Engines / Re: Is a Metro 6/1 also an 8/1

Well,  I would like to thank everyone for their replies.  I think the best thing to do is err on the side of caution and stic to what is known.  650 rpm 6/1 is where it will operate.

Thanks again

Engines / Is a Metro 6/1 also an 8/1
« on: May 30, 2007, 03:00:20 PM »
I recently purchased a Metro 6/1 and am in the process of tearing down and checking everything on the engine.  It was mentioned to me when I purchased the engine that the 8/1 is the same exact engine just set to operate at a higher RPM.  I'm wondering if that is a true statement.

I was looking to couple the engine to an ST5 and am wondering if I could get the full 5kw out of the head at the higher RPM/HP with the appropiate pully configuration.

I was looking to get some thoughts and/or experience from those here.

Thanks
JP

I wanted to repost this here as I think this is a better area for it.
