hi,

the first thing to do when you have a remain loss is to check the insulation resistance, to do so, you will need a megohmeter. the problem looks like a current filtration from the rotor winding to earth, the filtration drain the exitation current and avoid the exitation shunt buid-up, if you don't have the megger, you can use a 110 volts lamp instead.

with the lamp: take the brushes off, connect a potential 110 Volts to the slip ring one lamp socket lead to neutral and touch the rotor shaft with the other lamp socket lead, you are connectin the lamp in series with the generator insulation, if the lamp turn on (even dimmed) the insulation have a filtration and may be produced by moisture, is easy to fix it, heating the generator in an oven to 110 celsius degrees per 3 hours and check again.

thanks guys,

I will check the engine the next week, this weekend is the birthday party of mu daugther. but answering, the engine rotate by hand smoothtly and you do not feel any contact or friction. I don't know now if  the engine have a real problem, let me explain, with the engine started and under load, I cut the fuel rack off, the sound disapear, them, quickly I release the rack and the engine revolutions raise (breaking the inertia) with a heavy injection steram, black smoke and all the other...., during the engine recovering, the sounds increase proportianally to the overinjection, when the engine stabilize, the sound is regular. I think that the knock is normal in the DI engines, what all you think?

HI GUYS,

I will check the rod bearing clearance with plasticgage, I think that the noice is product of the bad microphone gain, but follow a partner's advice don't hurt absolutely.

sincerelly thanks.
