Title: Peter ph1 engine oil
Post by: 2011dandd on December 02, 2022, 05:20:03 PM
Hiya. Recently got a petter ph1 and wondered what oil you guys suggest using in it? ( read a bit about the wrong oil causing harder starting)

Also whilst I’m here on the engine it looks like I have 2 oil sump bolts, one is obviously for the oil but what’s the other one for? On removal today only a dribble came out.

Cheers

Just about anything on the shelf today will be superior to the best oil available when the engine was designed .
Some sort of low ash oil rated SF-2 for two stroke Detroit diesels is a safe choice . SAE 30 would do .
