Title: Lister BA2
Post by: Mirjan on July 15, 2020, 06:47:51 PM
Hi, good evening,

I am looking for an Instruction Manual / Operator's Handbook for a Lister BA2 (2 cyl. / 25 bhp / aircooled).

I searched the net but did not find any adequate documentation. Any idea where to find / obtain ?

Need it for this "Little Lady"  ;): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5AQT9rtuUJo (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5AQT9rtuUJo)

Thanks / Greetings

Michael

Hi, good morning,

although the search for BA2-Manual wasn't successful yet we managed to "re-animate" the motor after six years not running  ;D

Next step is a new packing for the sterntube / prop-shaft and then back to water  ;)

Greetings Michael

Hi Michael

That engine, from what I can see it could be a ST2 or SR2 model, and its easy to find manuals.

Can you put a pic of model and serial plate here?

Are you shure is it 25HP?

Hi,

will try to make some pics next days, but it's so "bloody" narrow in the boat to get a good picture.
Serial Plate I will look for.

The only plate I found so far is stating following: "8,5 hp @ 1.800 rpm" ?????

Thanks so far.

Greetings

/\ /\ Beat me to it :)

Furthermore it will not be a ST2 as that engine has two of the four cylinder head nuts exposed, and as a result has a different style of rocker cover.

Agreed it is most likely a Lister SR2*, and the engine type will be in the middle of a long string of numbers that also comprise of the serial number. The data plate is usually attached to the injection pump inspection door.

Though it could also conceivably be a Lister SL2, LD2, or LR2.

Hi gentles

Yes, I would incline to SL2, with 8,5@1800.

/\ Lets hope it's not a SL2 for your sake, as the SL is tricky for certain spares that are unique to that engine.

If it is SL the outline of the cylinder barrel fins will be circular, compared to the SR which will be square in outline.

This is not a totally reliable indicator, because a round outline can also indicate LD2, just as a square outline could also indicate LR2
