Does anyone have torque figures for the 4 brass head nuts on the Petters Appletop engine. these sit in the cooling water and hold the tank to the body.
Also, does anyone know where one may aquire a cast iron exhaust part as shown on the attached photo. the large black portion!
Thank you

Brass nuts would have very light torque as brass is quite soft/weak. So be careful, and go easy on them, hardly more than finger tight, IMHO.

Thank you for the reply. I thought this was the answer, but how to compress the head gasket and get sufficient load on the head bolts? I am considering getting some stainless nuts so that some sufficient torque can be applied.
Thanks again

Are you sure those nuts are the stud nuts ? It seems very unusual for a high stress application, to use brass.
Is it possible they are only for the water jacket, and the head studs & nuts are buried someplace else ?
