Title: lister LR1 exhaust silencer
Post by: veloce on May 17, 2020, 11:05:17 AM
I have an LR1 that powers an old benford cement mixer.
i bought a pepper pot silencer from stationary engines, not checking the pipe dimensions first.
These are 1 1/2 inch male, the OD on my existing exhaust pipe is around 1 1/4 inch.
Can anyone advise either a reducer or a silencer with the correct  BSP size?
Thanks

Go visit your local plumbers hardware, they will have a reducer to do the job. Other than that some of the common auction sites may list the one you want only issue is when it pops up.
Not sure where you are but also try a Google search for Lister parts near you and ask them for the right size or look at lawn mower mufflers or other brands of staionary engines preferrably vintage ones.

The thread size on the LR1 exhaust manifold is 1" BSP.

Hey Veloce that "BSP" mentioned - the P is for pipe.  So it's common-as-hell plumbing thread.  Any plumber's merchant will have what you want.  You might be better off with "black" not "galv"?  And you might have to buy a reducing socket and a nipple?  If you take the bits with you to compare threads - the plumber will know.  Cheers
