Title: Unused 1944 Lister CS 6/1 for sale
Post by: ajaffa1 on January 17, 2019, 08:30:33 PM
Don`t see one of these every day. Never been run since manufacture. $5000 is way too rich for me but as a collectors piece it is probably priceless: https://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/warwick/collectables/vintage-lister-diesel-engine/1207228263

Hope someone can find it a good home.

That's just too funny.
Even if it was bought new by John Wayne, sold to Elvis, then gifted to Michael Jackson, it ain't worth
it. It's a mystery what makes folks think their iron is worth it's weight in silver.

Pity it wasn't kept in the crate.  Might be worth that to the right collector here in the US.

So true.
Any day of the week one can browse Craigslist and see the ridiculous over priced ads for tools, equipment., etc that have literally been on there for YEARS. Just what goes thru the sellers mind.........besides a cross wind??

Yes the price is madness but if it has genuinely not been run it would be very interesting to run it as a test bed to see how many hours it would do before requiring a rebuild. We could run it along side an Indian Listeroid for comparison purposes, same load same fuel. I think I know which one I`d put my money on.

"Always kept under cover". Sitting beside the garden shed under a tarpoleon for 75 years may not be the gem one thinks it is. Just saying. I have seen first hand the moisture damage that can occur with a CS from sitting unrun for long periods of time. It can be ugly!

Yep, I bought one of those "never been run" deals on a 'roid. I didn't believe the guy, but it looked pristine UNTIL I pulled the covers and looked inside. I found heavy flaking rust spots on nearly everything, it is very repairable, but it's gonna take a lot of needle scaling and sand blasting.
