Title: lister A magneto

hello everyone ,ive just purchased a lister a without an exhaust or magneto ,would anyone like to tell me what magneto i need ,its a twin flywheel if that helps ,thanks

I am not as familiar with that engine as other Lister products but I can get you a lot closer than an unnecessary  bodge job. 

Lister engines in that era used either a Lucas SR1 or RS1 magneto, a very common and  easy to find magneto even here in the states, the land of few Listers.  Not sure where you are located but A quick search of ebay UK found an arm load of RS1 magnetos from freshly rebuilt to as dug up out of the dirt.  Another route would be to search "magneto repair" + your country.  Since you seem to have little familiarity with the engine  I recommend you get a manual for the engine and that you purchase a magneto from a reputable rebuilder,, but then again I am spending your money. Good luck with it.
