Title: Witte diesel electric

I have a question about a witte diesel electric 12 hp and 8kw
Did witte ever make them in black?
The seller said its unmolested and the paint looks original  but I have not seen any that were black.
It's a md sn# D1521 the wife thinks it maybe a D1621   help with any info like dating or history would would be great.

Also what's the difference between the MD model  and the CL model?

He did get back to me, couldn't date engine but thought  it was late 40s early 50s
