Title: petter AD1 fixed to variable speed conversion

Hello folks!
We've come upon a few military surplus AD1 engines used as generators, only without the gens.  We'd like to use them on cargo tricycles in poor areas of Latin America, ultimately making hybrid diesel-electric, then fully electric versions once renewable energy electricity can be afforded.

To use these fixed speed units there's a need to convert them to variable speed.   Upon inspection of governor parts shown in parts catalog this seems doable, but we don't want to get too deep into this to find special tools and know how are required to calibrate, etc...

Our first hurdle is to find the parts, special tools, and the encouragement from someone familiar with these to move ahead with our project.

In our experience the AD1 is quite scarce in North America... A few of the parts are available, just not anything like the more numerous Listers though.

Anyone know of a supplier in the UK that might have parts we need for converting AD1 or AC1 from fixed to variable speed?
