Really neat industrial strength unit.  I sure wish my BD had the electric start.

Casey, do you know what model the engine is, and what speed it runs?

Thanks.

It's not too far from me - I might bid on it if the price doesn't go too high.

It looks like the tag says model BDR5, or BDRS; it's hard to read.  The generator tag says it runs at 1800 RPM, judging from the pulley sizes my guess is the engine runs around 600 RPM.

Are parts and manuals available for these engines?

And should I be concerned about that yellow cap, looks like from a can of PB Blaster?  I'm guessing it WAS stuck.

Are you familiar with smokstak forum?  There is a pretty knowledgeable Witte guy there, Dave?  He either does work for or used to work for Arrow engine in Oklahoma.

There are two people that I pretty much believe what they say about Wittes.  David Johnson of Wittemania who is employed by Arrow and my BD parts source.  The other is FutureMagnetics who is really getting into the very essence of these horizontal monsters.

My engine tag rates the engine at 900 RPM and I can tell you at about 950 RPM this puppy starts a dance that really catches your attention.  It is very smooth at 750 but the generator frequency rules unless you're going to rectify to DC as I plan at this time.  I just have to figure out how to pull 350 volts DC out of this single phase generator or replacing it with a three phase for smoother DC but still needing 350 VDC.  Suggestions will be read and pondered.

Mine is not electric start and I kind of thought the larger CD was the only one that came with the starter but it appears my understanding has been expanded.  These engines are just about bomb proof and are totally sealed from dirt and other contamination.  Full oil pressure, 10 quart oil reservoir built into the cast iron base.  Water temperature and oil pressure shut down.  Mr. Happy may not be as cute as the Lister designs but he is totally phallic.

Thanks for the feedback.  Yes, I've looked around over at smokstak.  Good to know there should be parts available.  I also noticed from looking in the picture that the high pressure line from the injection pump to the injector is off.  I wonder how long it's been off?  Not a good place for moisture.

350V DC :o?  What are you doing with that?  Feeding an inverter?

You should be able to get 350V DC from a bridge rectifier running on 250V AC.  You'll probably need some filter capacitors unless you're charging batteries.
