Title: A/C Hard Start Kit
Post by: rl71459 on August 22, 2009, 02:22:20 AM
I came across these "Supco" Hard Start Kits... Has anyone used these? They are not very expensive. Sounded interesting.
Could this help someone with a borderline genset? Their web site is www.supco.com

Could it be used on an Air Compressor?

These are for motors where you can get to the start winding.  The OP has just 2 wires going down into the well and the pump might be a permenent split phase motor.  He probably has a difficult situation there  :-\ .                                                      Leland

From reading, they are simply capacitors that are added while the motor is starting to fix PF and then removed (with a relay) when the motor is up to speed.
