I have used some of these fab little motors made in Italy part of the Duetz AG group now.
These are not bic lighters like the Yanmar clones from China.

I know the seller quite well.
Nice upstanding guy, you wont have any problems if you deal with him.

$1500???!!! Good greif. You could have a Listeroid for that.
-
Yes, but for the same money you could have a Lambardini ::)

Hard to fit a Listeroid on the rear of a go-cart..........
That would kick ass, a 10hp diesel go cart, maybe with a torque converter drive-
-
Not so sure about that....
They are a little bigger and heavier than the Yanmar clones.

they are great little engines, i worked on them 25 years ago for the local distributor, H&S rentals in gaithersburg, md. these engines held up very well in a rental situation (ie: no oil changes, idiots running them ect..) looks like they have updated them a little & they dont weigh that much, that 10 hp may weigh 250 lbs. & i'm sure the retail price is more than he has listed. scott r.

I wonder what the time between rebuilds might be for one taken care of? Might it be possible to get good value from a high speed diesel?

I can't say for sure, but the air filter on my EL300 A-R Kubota diesel, 4hp, liquid cooled 2000rpm, was marked 4910hrs. The 'Bota came from a flashing arrow sign, with an alternator bolted to it. Still starts in the summer without glow. I have no idea if it was ever rebuilt, but it doesn't look to have ever been apart. If it was, someone painted it afterwards. I figure that's pretty reasonable for a 300cc single, and it's far from dead yet.
I also have a MDJA Onan diesel, one cyl liquid, hours unknown, a bit tired, however it came from a small reefer, and has a centrifugal clutch on it to allow idling, so you KNOW it ran a LOT of hours. Holds 5-6 liters of oil I think.
My own truck has a 4 cylinder Isuzu diesel, with an estimated >10,000 hrs on it (550,000kms), and it is also getting tired, however it still starts instantly warm, and gives me 45mpg in the summer.
Personally, I believe it is very possible to get good value from a high speed diesel.
That said, I still want a Lister 6/1 ! WAY more cool than a high-speed diesel. 8)

Lets see.........that would be........."a few" power strokes per mile at 650 RPM........
-
I dunno but I think one would be much happier and look more dignified driving a Lister auto truck....
