Way off topic but some talk about hydro recently reminded me of this place.
Been there, seen that and never have I failed to be amazed by the place.
I wish I were this clever.

Cool little town, built on Silver mining. One of the "tri-towns" battered and bloodied by the boom and bust cycles.
One of my jobs is to inspect and service an electric compressor plant. A plant that never worked right because of poor planning and over engineering combined with the blind foolishness of building it at great expensence 6000 feet underground.... ramble....
All water powered and reliable.
The simplest solutions are the best you know.

That's so simple it might just work ;D

You can do a lot of cool stuff with compressed air.
Consider for a moment an air driven generating set...

The (now closed) Sullivan Mine here in Kimberley BC, while in operation for 100 years, the largest Silver/Lead/Zinc mine in the world used compressed air generated by water powered compressors at first. Then they went to electrically powered compressors. The compressor station is still there, sitting at the lower end of Mark Creek, which generates 300' of head, lots of power going to waste. ???
