Title: Generator Testing
Post by: gstuart on October 03, 2006, 12:14:30 AM
Good Day To All,

I am currently working on a Markon BL105E gen head. Does anyone have any information on load testing these heads. I had thought of using resistive heaters and switching them on until I reach my 5K. During this time tracking volts, amps and freq.

Any information on generator testing will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Greg

We had a test station at electric shop that put a ressistive and or inductive load on the machines.

How and what you did was based on the manufactures specifications for load and voltage. Uaualy at unity or .8 lag. On the off chance we improvised a winding or made changes to a machine we would generaly see if the data the computer generated about the winding performance ( EASA software ). Ball park was to try and get under 5% no load to full load but this was on larger machines no one bothered with small comercial heads and the only little ones I ever remeber repairing were for refridgeration trucks ( 2000 w )
