It arrived safely today and a big thanks for sending this information. I have flywheel magnetos sorted and I am slowly getting better at rotary ones and once fully understood I will rebuild a couple I have from tractors. Next on the list of WANTS is a magnet re-charger, I have the plans to build one, just need a huge amount of copper wire.
Thanks once again.

No worries, your more then welcome!

I had thoughts on a magneto/magnet charger also. Makes sence to to learn/make as much as possible to extend life of ones engines - plus it sounds like fun!

The tester I have for flywheel magnetos was used in a mower shop years ago and it came with no operating instructions and the company that made it in the late 50-60's is no longer, but by asking in a lot of places and with some common sense I worked it out. It has the ability to test point condition, condensor strength and coil condition both cold and then can heat it up and test again to see if it has lost any condition. My multi-meter took me ages to get one that done everything needed and now some of the steps I have down pat but I have a mate who helps sort my head out around issues I have, so slowly getting there.

Hi all,

I have now obtained a copy of the RS1 Magneto Workshop Instructions. If any one needs a copy please let me know and I can email you a PDF.

Cheers, James.

Hi James, I've messaged you as well - wasn't sure if it is the same file as at the bottom of this post or not.  The images of the front cover of the instruction booklets that I've seen are different to the one that I downloaded from the bottom of this post.
Many thanks
Chris

I now have in my collection a re-magnetiser. It originally was made for and supplied to an airport  maintenance hanger and is very heavy and also had an accessory for charging solenoids. It is a box with a hole through the middle, strange.
Since buying it I have charged a few magnetos for myself and one I thought was really only ever going to be a parts magneto now throws a good spark.
