HA2 12.5Kva generator

Hi,

Thanks for accepting me in the forum.

I have an HA2 12.5kva single phase generator which I have recently saved from the scrap mans hands. It runs perfectly and produces 13vac residual at the output terminals, there are 4 terminals in the alternator connection box, L,N and a pair which are connected to the field coils. If I link the field coil terminals out completing the circuit it produces 300vac, I'd imagine these terminals were previously connected to a resistor to set the voltage to 240vac - does anyone have any idea of the size of resistor I'd need?  The alternator I suspect is either a Brush or BKB however it's badged as RA Lister and the ser no is 29230/1, type is blank on the plate....
