Good News 2018

(1/3) > >>

LowGear:
I was shifting through the posts this morning and have continued to notice this is not a "Good News" kind of place for the most part.  We're sowing up 2018 and thought some of us might want to reflect on outcomes that were pleasing for the year.

My swimming pond continues to spring forth with life.  I didn't know so much algae could grown in a single spot.  I'm thinking my new handle might be "The Old Fart From the Green Lagoon."

Last month was the lowest electrical bill We've had since we moved here 20 years ago.  Solar does pay back and then just keeps giving.

Our volunteers on the farm seem to just keep getting better.  Perhaps our recruiting message is better tuned.  I'm still flabbergasted how many strangers will help you get along in this life.

What are the good things that have happened in your year 2018?

dieselspanner:
Personally, and its probably to do with my 'sunny disposition' I rather like the tone of the forum, but I do see where you're coming from LG

In 2018 I..........

Got my 1980 SWB Landy running right with a 200 TDI from a Disco, ran it on WVO and last week the French registration came through. FC 070 GB.

I knocked up a two car carport, with an integeral garden shed that has freed up space in the workshop.

I made a hydraulic tipping trailer from a load of scrounged up bits.

I got given a Hartridge injector tester that was bunged up solid after 20 years in a shed, took a whole morning to sort it out. (and the injectors I rebuilt for the Landy tested out ok)

For £25 I fixed a tracked snow blower that was destined for the tip, it's snowing as I type, but I don't think we'll get enough to test it this week.

I've also been lent a Myford lathe - hopefully my mate won't need it in the near future.

I'm waiting on the return of the flywheel to continue with the electric start for the CS

As well as having our most lucrative summer in the last 7 years with the B&B.

Once it snow properly the resort 10 K up the road will open and I can start using my seasons pass.

And the other half still appears to like me!

Seasons greetings one and all.

Stef

I made it to 60 a few days ago.  Never thought I would get there.  Next target 70

LowGear:
Yo Stef;  No more screwing off next year.   ;)

Mr glort;  Good news is kind of different than a lack of horrific news.

Congratulations dax021;  I start the fourth quarter of the game next month.  Had I been ten seconds later to the toilet this morning it would have taken more than paperwork to get out of the bathroom.  Already some good news and I haven't escaped my pajamas yet.  We're all somewhat on the same train just some of us got an earlier start.  So the Adventures continue except the focus changes just a bit.

Yes indeedy.  2018 has been a bastard of a year but one of life's certainties is that some time in the future I will look back with fondness at some of 2018's events - don't know if that's good or bad?  I think it's probably good

Good luck & best wishes to all of you - regardless of where we are on the journey  :)
