Pulley
« on: March 17, 2018, 05:14:18 PM »
Hello, all-
My NEW Listeroid project is moving right along.  I seem to have run into a stumbling block, however, in my search for a pulley.  I need a 7 to 8 inch diameter 8 rib split taper pulley ( or something close -- 1 1/2" generator shaft).  If anyone has something close to this or can point me towards a source, I would really appreciate it!  Thanks! -- Charlie

We stock heavy billet pulleys in all sizes to 15". Some in L8 and some in K8 grooves. We also have the K and L belting.

I used the crankshaft pulley from a Chevy 350 with a machined adapter hub, however it's a 6 rib if memory serves. It measures 7 3/4", so allows the engine to run at 600 rpm and power a 2500 watt generator.
I've joined "the dark side"....if it has a spark plug, it's obsolete technology.

They are rare and hard to find as Rockinghorse do do here Garry.
There should be a good business in promoting those things as i have read of people in the us having a hard time finding them as well.
It takes a fair investment, but these things can be easily produced and machined once specs are arranged. I don't think we've sold more than a half a dozen in the past year... fairly dead stocks.

In 2011 I got mine from Mike Montieth (alternateenergy at bellsouth.net). Don't know if that e-mail works any more. It was a custom 9.5" 8 rib K series. Very reasonable. It needs a SK taper bushing to mount it.

Ours use the SK QD bushings as well, so they can be matched to many different shaft sizes and are easy to install and remove.
