Actually, I loathed marketing bullshit so much that when I managed some R&D contracts for the USAF, I would insist that no marketing people were allowed in project engineer to project engineer status reporting. Much harder for them to get working engineers to lie, obscure, and bend the truth. For most corporate marketing types, that's like breathing.
You are much closer to the truth if you assume the opposite of anything coming out of advertising or marketing. Take any ad made by any large company, investigate thoroughly for yourself, and see if I'm not right.
Greenwashing is just one common example.
