Molasses rust removal
« on: December 25, 2016, 12:42:41 PM »
If anybody wants to remove rust from rusty Lister parts, mix up a molasses / water mix and throw your rusty parts in. It really works !

I use a strong mix about 1 part molasses  to 4 parts water but 1 to 10 will work but its slower . Molasses is easy to buy from farm stores, its a stock feed supplement .
Gippsland is in the S.E. corner of mainland Australia

Once we're done cleaning parts is it OK to use for a base to Chile or Spaghetti sauce?  No need for iron supplements for a day or two.

Maybe the sugar in Coca-Cola is where it get's it's metal cleaning strength.

Ed - I don't exactly remember my chemistry, but I think Avocado's number has something to do with how many moles it takes to make a liter...

Merry Christmas!

Lol... Right.... So, a mole ass is about the back quarter of a mole.. So four mole asses to make a mole... So that equates to one avocado... Hmm... Fuerte or Haas... Fuerte is the most common round here so one avo full of mole asses to the litre.... Happy Xmas, hope u had a good one!

We got marmots up here, trouble is, the squeaky little buggers hibernate around now, would Australian veggiemots do?

Is there a conversion app somewhere on the WWW?

Cheers Stef
Tighten 'til it strips, weld nut to chassis, peen stud, adjust with angle grinder.

Closest we have to marmots is something we call Marmite.. About a bottle of Vegemite would equate to a bottle of Marmite... Problem is the bread factor that you introduce into the cleaning abilities.... Wholewheat might assist as its particulate size would help with its abrasive qualities.. To make it really abrasive, make the marmots angry.... Agitate them a bit...
