Warming and aerating the soil is also of benefit to gardening in most climes... sounds like a winner in almost every aspect I can think of.

I'm on-board just as soon as you convert to natural gas.  And then maybe vegetable oil.  But after that rung of natural I'm gonna wonder off to the market.  Just a gut feeling (yep, that's an intended pun).

After thought:  I suspect if we knew the crap that is sprayed, dumped and mixed in with our store bought vegetables that an occasional dusting of diesel soot would truly be the tempest in the teapot.  And not to wander too far off topic - Please Stop Dumping Nitrogen Fertilizers On Your Lawns - Your Screwing Our Water Systems!
