Lister SR1
« on: April 14, 2016, 03:48:01 PM »
Hi
Anyone guide me as to the removing of the oil block that feeds the external oil filter.
Have a big end problem and need to get at the conrod  nuts but the brass block is restricting access.
Just cant see how it comes off, not having done this before.
Any help much appreciated.
Cheers
Geoff

For cartridge type SR1 you would drop the relief valve assembly first, then you can remove the oil supply lines that are in the way.

I seem to have oil starvation to the big end bearing on this SR1,Not knowing the history of the engine does anyone know the purpose of the sleeve that blanks off the lower oil hole on the relief valve assembly.

The lowest item in the relief valve assembly is called the "valve spring cap". It is there to retain the spring that holds the relief valve plunger against its seat.

Sorry must be my poor description, The sleeve I refer to is on the threaded end that screws into the oil block, there are 2 oilways on the threaded part but one is blocked off by the sleeve, maybe depends on type of installation, just needed to know as seem to have oil starvation and don't know history of the engine and whats been messed with. Thanks for the reply.
Cheers

From your 'oil block', oil pressure is routed upwards to the head and then both front and rear to each main bearing (separate oil lines), and finally through the pressure relief valve.
