Any interest in a build thread?
« on: January 13, 2015, 03:12:46 PM »
In a few weeks I will begin going though a DES 8/1 kit engine from top to bottom for a customer. This is a total tear down, cleaning, measuring, correcting, a few important improvements, assembly, balancing and most important  :P paint.
How much interest is there in seeing this done? Nothing new really, most all has been covered on the various forums previously but this would be the total deal all in one thread plus I will offer D-I-Y techniques to accomplish most of it at home with ordinary tools.

Great idea, Butch! I am sure we could all benefit from your experience and expertise. Seeing a complete run-through with photos and explanations would be so helpful. On your part, it will take extra effort and time, we all appreciate your efforts.
Thanks for offering this.
Cheers,
Hugh

Well now, it seems as if this might be a popular thread!
A short while ago, Butch posted a very clearly explained and illustrated thread re: converting the Lister "snake" fuel filter to a cartridge filter while retaining the original housing. I just tried it step by step, it was easily done with hand tools, looks and works great.
Thanks for that one, and am looking forward to more. You might even publish a how-to book!
In appreciation,
Hugh
