Nice looking ole lathe. We had a Hendley years ago that was so old it made that one look like a brand new design. Being Metric is not all bad, you can add a DRO and it makes no difference for turning but  cutting Imperial threads will be it's only shortcoming unless by chance you have the change gear and chart.

Since we're showing our old iron, here's a 1927 South Bend 9" heavy lathe that was restored a year ago.

Thats a nice SB lathe ..... The SB 9 was made here in Australia , a copy made by Hercus and Sheraton . Hercus even exported some lathes to Nth America where they were sold as SB lathes .  The hercus history is http://www.lathes.co.uk/hercus/index.html

My shed has too many old lathes waiting for restoration  :o

Wel,,,l I am not the least a showman :D

Horizontal boring machines are by nature large hunks of iron. . My Gididngs is the baby of the line, the smallest one made, your pocket size machine at only 8500 lbs. :P

The first bore was a Lister CS block that was sleeved back to standard bore.
