Interesting trek.....
This fellow found 6 Lister CS engines in the Australian outback.
3 of them look to be complete.

There is an associated video on dismantling that recovered engine.

Seems to come apart fairly easily. Interesting what he finds. the big end bearing clearance is absolutely incredible........must have run itself into this much wear, you could measure it with a yardstick!
No wonder there were two 3.5/1s with thrown rods in the other vid!
Cheers,

I'm thinking he's done this before.

What a lesson on distilled water with antifreeze.

Quite amazing how little work and new spare parts was required to make this engine run again, but he took a big chance on the main bearing(s) journal condition.

I myself would have inspected the main bearing journals for corrosion, been as there was a significant amount of water in the sump when he first got the engine.

Judging by how the engine is hunting when it first starts, it looks like the governor mechanism could do with a little fine tuning.

He must also be using A/F spanners instead of Whitworth spanners, see how loose the open ended spanner is on the nut, when he tightens the 3/4" BSW cylinder head nuts.

Really great to watch a Good Ole Boy from Down Under do some shade tree mechanics.

I checked the 54 C.  That's 129 F.

129 deg holy cow! That's way to hot to do anything but for a free lister CS I would go get it in 129 deg but I think I would have to wait for a cooler day to work on it. Oh wait a minute its a dry heat! LOL

Enjoyed watching all four of his videos. At first, wondering why he didn't paint his hard work, then thought about the heat and the absence of water / humidity, I guess it's not worth the effort.
