Wow it's been 10 years
« on: April 10, 2014, 05:59:00 PM »
The 'roid was purchased in Feb 2004. It powered the construction of our home in '06-'07 and now charges batteries when the sun don't shine. Would I do it again, heck yes! May we all tip our favorite frosty beverage and toast to another 10 years of service.

How many hours have you put on your machine in that time? How many repairs? Congratulations on a successful implementation!

I remember your build on another forum, its what helped me down this path originally, so thanks! Is there anything you would do differently now?

Good to hear that my posts have helped someone. There is not much  I would have done differently as not much was known about the issues w/'roids when I bought it. Although keeping the first one that was filled with sand for $400 would have been handy for spare parts.

Only $400 dollars and came with free sand, that sounds pretty hard to beat! LOL

Lots of sand in the cylinder! I think there was a big plop of sand in the precup chamber that came out when it was test run. The cylinder walls were destroyed and the rings were stuck in the piston. This batch of engines was billed as clean and ready to go, well maybe by indian standards. That engine must have had a ton of blow-by yet they packaged and shipped it as good. Fortunately George B. is a reputable guy and he sent a replacement which was in much better condition. This was before a complete dissassembly was standard practice.
