Some advice please...
« on: October 03, 2012, 01:34:12 PM »
good morning all

i wonder if there is someone there who can help me...  if i might explain.

a few years back i took off to africa and set about opening a workshop producing fine furniture as well as trying to start a training school for local carpenters at the same time.

i have made some good progress but as one might expect being in africa, power is very sporadic and often non-existent, so i have installed a 3 phase Lister generator to assist with such a shortcoming.

now my experience / knowledge is limited to furniture production.  i am however back in the uk for a week or so and would like to go back armed with a few spares / filters and so on so the generator can maintain its service.

in the first instance i attach a photo of the machine i have acquired.  if anyone can tell me what it is in more detail then i would be very grateful and then also i am trying to find a stockist of spares etc to take back with me.

many thanks for any knowledge you can share with me.

keith

If uploading a photo is proving difficult, you could quote the serial number of the engine. I could possibly advise you based upon that information.

Wherabouts in the UK are you located?

Keith

The way to load a photo into this website is as follows.
First upload your photo to a site like photobucket. Then when you have your photo loaded left click on the direct link and it will say copied.
Then start typing your post and when you want to insert your photo left click on the third icon on the bottom row the one that says insert image  (img) (img)  will appear then place your cursor in between the brackets in the middle of the (img) HERE (img) and click the left mouse button and paste the already saved image address in the gap. then the picture will appear in your post.
Thats the way I do it and it works for me.

Their engine is a nice looking HR6... on a British generator head. There are plenty of parts available here (North America) as well as in England.

Not too common to see the large air-cooled machines around any more, but they did have favor for a time as irrigation power in the US Midwest.

^ Unless you have access to more information than what I can see from the photograph, this could also be a HA6 or a HB6 engine. Which makes no difference in terms of comsumable spares such as the filters as they would be the same.

OP: If your in the UK, aftermarket filters such as Crossland are readily available from any good motor factor, and will be less than the equivilant OEM product. Stationary engine parts at York did have some reasonably priced gasket sets if you are considering a top end overhaul (decarb). However for anything else your going to need to contact a Lister Petter dealer, such as Mead plant, or Sleeman and Hawken.
