What's the difference between the SOM bush bearings and the standard bush bearings?

My understanding is;
Main bearings (crankshaft), no change.  All the same.
Connecting rod bearing; SOM and engines with heavy flywheels were fit with a heavier backed bearing over the standard 6/1 bearing.  The added inertia of the heavy flywheels adds stress to the bearing.  Most dealers only stocked the stronger style.

I have a spare set, but was planning to keep them on hand.  I had some from Central Marine that have worked out well.
