Hi TanMan

It  looks like a Petter PH1 water cooled. Or also a AV1.

Stay safe.

So I found some additional info and it looks like it's defiantly a petter AV1, is this a model that is copied by the Indians and has a decent parts availability? I'm considering picking it up and building it into a prime mover.

It could be either, and the easiest way to tell from pictures only is the injector, but as the fuel injector and pump are not original, there is no way to be certain from pictures alone.

If it is, it will not be 10HP as per the auction description, plenty of spares available from India, from all the usual suppliers.

Looks to have many non original additions.

Make sure before you buy it they have the other missing flywheel.     ;D ;D ;D

The shaft your looking at is the accessory drive on the camshaft, turns in the opposite rotation at hakf the engine rpm's

So if it is 10hp then it would be for sure a PH1? Also here is an additional picture.

Take a look at this link:

http://www.oldengine.org/members/diesel/PetterData/PetterPH1111.htm

I do humbly apologize, it would seem from the above that 10 BHP is achievable :o, and if you were going to run this engine as part of a generator setup, you would best running it at 1800 RPM close coupled to a 60 Hz, 4 pole alternator. At 1800 RPM you would still not be far off 10BHP.

To me it looks like the PH1 Models have cooling grooves on the water jacket and AV1's do not, so then wouldn't this have to be an AV1?
