ADDS (?) engine
« on: February 22, 2012, 10:09:09 AM »
I'm looking to buy a second hand generator with an ADDS engine. I can't find any information. On the generator is mentioned the following:

Type DA 8
KVA 7.5
A 11.4
HZ 50
R/min 3000

Does any one knows what brand of engine this could be. It is the only picture I have...
Secondly, I find a 7.5kva unit on a one cilinder engine rather heavy. I this actualy possible?

Tnx
Frederic

Thanks for the quick reply.
Are these engines known to be reliable?

We usually see these on construction equipment like compactors... they seem to be very rugged and reliable. Parts availability might be an issue though... depends somewhat on your location.

Your not wrong there, as genuine parts are eye wateringly expensive, though like Lister engines. Pattern parts are freely available from the usual Indian sources.

FYI: The bottom end design of these engines is remarkably similar to some of the  Indian Listeriod engines, with taper roller main bearings and splash lubrication via a dipper on the connecting rod.
