Lister SL3 flywheel extension shaft
« on: September 12, 2011, 06:16:53 AM »
Gentlemen,

would greatly appreciate if anyone could give the the mounting details of the flywheel extension shaft to mount a pulley. the flywheel has 6 mounting holes to accept this extension output shaft.

i need to machine a piece to mount a belt drive pulley as my Southern Cross water pump is running on the wrong rotation.

thank in anticipation.

The part you require should still be available via a Lister petter dealer (at a price), and it mounts via 3 of the 6 bolt holes tapped in the flywheel. The shaft size on this item is 1.5", and from memory the mounting holes are an awkward size (7/16" UNF) so you may struggle to obtain bolts.

JP2, many thanks. i have the UNF bolt but in AF instead of BSW. do you happen to have the radius from the hole center to the center of shaft? i have the piece made. just need the final dimension to drill the 6 holes. any related info appreciated.

As near as I can measure with a steel rule and a sharp eye is 6 or 3 mounting holes (depending on your application ) on a 4" PCD.

Thanks you so much Listard-JP2. the piece is now made and 4" PCD is the correct dimension.

Lister also published line drawings (blueprint style) for all these adapters and drives... we have them all but likely will take some time to locate and scan the correct ones. We do have a bit of a needle-in-the-haystack situation in the old literature until we can get it fully computerized... anyone up for a challenge?

I have seen quite a few ebooks offered on eBay... quality may be lacking and they are not authorized. To purchase originals we mainly buy up lots and collections when Dealerships close and often find these from book collectors and others, once again on eBay. We can offer any of the currently printed documents from Dealer stock and we do have a very large volume of originals from lifeboats (we also purchase from shipbreakers overseas). Mostly operator's manuals and parts books in this lot. Typical pricing is $25.

What is it that you are looking for specifically?

Glad to be of help to you. One final thing to bear in mind, if your intending to fit a pulley or similar to the new shaft you have had made, then the pulley should be positioned as close to the engine as possible, so as to reduce the pull it imparts to the crankshaft.
