voltage regulator for a 24v altanator

has anyone built an adjustable regulator for an 24v alternator?
i was thinking 30 to 31volts.
to be used for equalizing batteries

Haven't built one, but just about to purchase a Balmar MC524 which has some pretty nifty programs built-in and will do an equalise.
I'll be using it with a 70 Amp 24 Volt Balmar alternator to charge an 875 Ah bank of Enersun batteries..... hoping my Lister 3.5/1 will handle it.
