Welcome George.  I'd love to see a rebuild in progress of a 6/1 SOM.  Where's the pics?
Stan

OK George...found em in the gallery.  Lots of surface rust but the cylinder liner doesn't look too bad.  Mine looked worse than that.

Welcome George, glad to have you here! looks like you have a challenging rebuild ahead of you. the good thing is it says RA Lister on it, & that will make it all worth while.

Thanks guys, did you take a look at the pic of the nozzle holder crack? will this be the end of the injector? i looked up on stationaryengineparts and a new bosch injector was about 58 quid.

Hi George, It appears that it would need to be replaced, if i am looking at it correctly, in the picture showing the crack, the nozzle would be sitting on top of the holder. where the two pieces come together, the nozzle & holder are lapped to be perfectly flat & ensure that the fuel does not leak out. if the crack allows fuel to leak it would not allow pressure to build up enough for the pintle to be lifted off the seat & the injector will not "pop". Only reassembling it & having it tested will tell, even if it does work, when it comes up to operating temperature it may begin to leak. Sorry to be the barer of bad news.

Thanks Scot R,

I've tested it now and it does take well over 90bar without any leaks, but i think for peace of mind i'll order a replacement, It's just a pity - i hope it was'nt my

efforts at removal that cracked it.

Anyone want a paperweight?
