Lister ST/1A with Lima gen head Coast Guard unit ?
« on: January 20, 2010, 08:28:43 PM »

Just purchase a Lister St/1A with a Lima 10kw 12 wire head set up for 110 V AC.  Unit was built as back up power for Coast Guard navigation use in 1980-1981  (CG # steel stamped on Lima tag)  and was retired in 2005.  Does any one have a similar gen set?  The original setup had a 40 gallon tank as part of the skid package and was used as a eng. oil tank for extended operation.

Got any pics?  Sounds like a remote automated navaid package power source.  I used to work on them once upon a long time ago...

I have a 1973 vintage SR2 genset that has a LIMA 10 KVa genhead. It's a 12 wire rated 110, 110/240, 208, 480 and maybe some others too (I'm at work now, so I can't read the 2 data plates.)
This also was a US Coast Guard / DOT contract, and is labled as a 6.5 Kw Long Run Generator. I was told by the seller that the sump under the engine holds 10 gallons of oil. The frame is set up to be picked by a crane, as well as tied down like deck cargo etc. This now is my 'Go-To' emergency generator, I currently have it positioned outside to power my house thru the abandoned Hot Tub lead. (My house is also set up with a 25/2 + 12Kw  ST head in the garage)
The SR2 LIMA isn't as 'romantic' and the Listeroid, but I would be willing to leave it running under the supervision of the wife...unlike the Listeroid.
